Workforce & Career Development at Higher Ground Community Development was born from sitting across the table from people who were willing to work, but unsure where to start. We designed these services so youth and adults can move from uncertainty to a clear, confident plan for employment and advancement.

We begin with Job Readiness Training that walks participants through what it truly takes to enter today's workforce-from creating a resume that tells your story, to understanding how to present yourself with confidence and professionalism. Many participants arrive feeling nervous about interviews; they leave knowing how to shake a hand, answer tough questions, and follow up the right way.

In our Career Exploration Workshops, we slow everything down. Together, we look at interests, strengths, and life experiences, then connect them to real career paths. For some, that means seeing a skilled trade as a dignified route to stability. For others, it is the first time they see college or certification programs as possible and practical.

To help people cross the bridge from practice to opportunity, we offer Interview Preparation Coaching and Mock Interview Sessions. These one-on-one and small group experiences give participants a safe space to practice, receive honest feedback, and keep trying until their answers feel natural instead of rehearsed.

Workplace Skills Development and Time Management Training round out the journey. We teach communication, teamwork, and problem-solving the same way you learn any skill-through examples, role-play, and reflection. Participants learn how to prioritize tasks, manage busy schedules, and show up consistently, which employers notice.

Throughout, Career Goal Setting is woven into every step. Each person leaves with a realistic, written plan that matches their season of life-whether that is a first job, a career change, or a second chance after a setback-so they can move forward with direction instead of doubt.
