Community Outreach & Resource Expos

Community Outreach & Resource Expos at Higher Ground Community Development were created from a simple observation: many families are not lacking help, they are lacking a doorway into the help that already exists. We wanted to put that doorway right in the heart of the neighborhoods we serve.

Our Resource Expos gather organizations, agencies, and local partners under one roof so residents can access multiple services in a single visit. On any given day, a parent might speak with a job trainer, a housing counselor, and a healthcare representative, then leave with clear next steps instead of a stack of confusing brochures.

Community Information Sessions are another key piece. These gatherings feel more like kitchen-table conversations than formal meetings. We explain available programs, answer questions in everyday language, and invite honest feedback about what is still missing. People are encouraged to share with friends and family, turning information into a community asset.

Behind the scenes, our Outreach Event Planning team handles the details that make these events feel welcoming and organized. We coordinate with partners, secure locations, plan layouts, and manage outreach so that residents know when and where to show up. Local leaders often tell us that having this level of coordination allows them to focus on serving, not just setting up.

Through our Community Resource Expos & Outreach Events, families can find support related to education, workforce development, financial literacy, healthcare, and family services without feeling like they are being sent from place to place. Over time, these efforts do more than connect people to programs; they build trust. Neighbors begin to see that when we gather, we are not just handing out information-we are building a network of care that says, very clearly, you do not have to navigate this alone.
